JOIN THE LAB!

Like what we do? Send us an email, we’d love to hear from you.

We’re always looking to recruit new members. Our lab is made up of people with backgrounds in animal behaviour, cognition, whole-organism physiology, locomotor performance, parasitology, limnology, ecology and, of course, fishes. If these things interest you, email (sandra.ann.binning@umontreal.ca) me with a CV and statement of your research interests.

WHAT ABOUT FUNDING?

Although I will help out with salaries and tuition where I can, perspective members are encouraged to apply for external funding to support themselves during their time in Canada.

Canadians can apply for NSERC funding at all levels (Undergrad, MSc, PhD, post-doc) (http://www.nserc-crsng.gc.ca/Students-Etudiants/index_eng.asp)

Quebec residents can also apply for funding from FRQNT (http://www.frqnt.gouv.qc.ca/en/accueil)

Exceptional international candidates may be competitive for Vanier Scholarships (PhD; http://www.vanier.gc.ca/en/home-accueil.html) or Banting Fellowships (Post-doc; http://banting.fellowships-bourses.gc.ca/en/home-accueil.html) from NSERC, or the Merit Scholarship program (PhD, Post-Doc, Short-term research trips; http://www.frqnt.gouv.qc.ca/en/bourses-et-subventions/consulter-les-programmes-remplir-une-demande?program=0&group=3&submit=Search) from FRQNT. The FRQNT also often has special awards for applicants from partner countries, so it’s worth having a look to see whether you are eligible based on nationality (At the moment, students and/or postdocs from Brazil, China, India, Israel, Mexico and Belgium are prioritized).
