This course explores the role of hormones in altering animal behaviours as well as how behavioural interactions affect the production of hormones. We learn about the basic functions of the endocrine system, the major hormones produced in vertebrates and explore the hormonal influences on sex determination, mating behavior, parental behaviour, homeostasis, responses to stress, biological rhythms and the effects of endocrine disruptors.

Over 70% of the Earth is covered by ocean. As a result, marine ecosystems play a crucial role in the heath and proper functioning of our planet. This course will explore a range of concepts in marine ecology including techniques used in marine ecology research. We will focus on the dominant species interactions and dynamics of coastal marine habitats in arctic, temperate and tropical seas.
